Real estate, building and construction
Through the production of buildings for residential and commercial purposes, the building and construction industry provides the basis for value creation and employment growth in other industries. New infrastructure improves the competitiveness of the economy.
The construction industry provides the foundations for growth and value creation for all other sectors of Norwegian business and industry. The industry plays an important role for employment and value creation in rural areas, but it also stands for a significant share of employment and value creation in urban areas. This makes building, construction and real estate important industries in the Norwegian economy.
Investments in building and construction have a lot to say for the development of the economy. Reduced travel time increases the competitiveness of regions and individual companies, while residential and commercial building allows for population growth and the creation of new businesses. The public sector commissions a large number of buildings for public use and thus has a leading role in encouraging the industry’s efforts within research and development.
