Tom Colbjørnsen is professor of organization and management at BI Norwegian Business School. From 2006 to 2014, he was rector at the same place. Before he came to BI, he was professor of organization and management at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), and Dean of NHH’s Executive studies. He holds an MSc in Business and Economy and a degree in sociology. In 1984, he completed a PhD with a thesis on inequality in the labor market.
In Menon, Colbjørnsen will work with analyses and presentations related to employment, organization, management and strategy.
Colbjørnsen has extensive experience both as a researcher, lecturer and consultant, and has also led and participated in several government appointed committees, including the so-called “Working Life Committee”, which prepared the ground for the Working Environment Act. He also participated in the Rattsø-committee that preceded the establishment of the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) in its present form, and in the government-appointed Equal Pay Commission, which delivered its recommendations in 2008.
He is a sought-after lecturer and seminar holder for the business and industry sector, and has collaborated with several major companies – including SAS, Telenor, Cappelen Forlag, NRK, Hydro, Statoil, Posten, the Norwegian Criminal Police Centre, DnB NOR and Storebrand. He has published numerous articles and books, and has been a regular contributor in Dagens Næringsliv for seven years.
